Day 1: Marrakech – Essaouira   

15 Days Tour from Marrakech to desert-Fez will starts After breakfast, we will leave Marrakech to travel to Essaouira to visit the city.Essaouira is known for its fishing port and its blue fleet of wooden fishing boats. The Medina of Essaouira is one of the best-maintained medinas in Morocco. Its numerous craft shops and art galleries attract visitors from all over the world. The city is proud to count artists like Orson Welles and Jimi Hendrix among its biggest fans. Welles shot several scenes of his film Othello in Essaouira.There are several “must-sees” in Essaouira – the Skala du Port, the Wood Souk below the ramparts where local artisans produce amazing wood products made from the beautiful Thuya wood local to Essaouira, the ramparts with the cannons still in place from the Portuguese era, the labyrinth of streets with the wonderful blue front doors. Around 5 o’clock we come back to Marrakech.There are lots of great dining options for lunch (we’ll give you a map showing you our favorites). Close to the port there are tables set up where you can choose your lunch from the fish/seafood that has literally just been pulled out of the water.Your accommodations and dinner will be in your riad/hotel in Essaouira or Marrakech.

Day 2: Marrakech to Dades Valley

After breakfast in your riad/hotel, we will pick you up along the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, heading towards Ouarzazate.TheTizi n’Tichka is a mountain pass in Morocco, at an elevation of2260m (6,867 ft.) above sea level, linking the southeast of Marrakesh to the city of Ouarzazate through the High Atlas Mountains. It lies between the great Marrakech Plains and the Gateway of the Sahara Desert. This long winding road offers many breathtaking views and the scenery promises to be nothing short of spectacular. The natural backdrop of the enormous rocks reflects colors in every shade of orange, red and brown imaginable while still visible in the deep valleys is the contrasting green from different types of cultivation of the local villagers.

Aït Benhaddou: Along the route you will stop to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aït Benhaddou, a spectacular fortified village (Ksar). While in Aït Benhaddou you will have time for lunch, which will be in a traditional restaurant, before traveling on to Ouarzazate.

Ouarzazate: In Ouarzazate you will visit the cinema studios of Atlas & CLA Studios where many movies were produced thus being called “The Hollywood of Africa.” Atlas Studio & CLA Studios is home to many prestigious movies filmed from Lawrence of Arabia, Tea in Sahara, Black Hawk Down, Moses, Gladiator, Cleopatra, The Mummy 1 & 2, Alexander the Great, Kingdom of Heaven, Sahara, Troy, Hidalgo, Patton, The Hills has Eyes, The Way Back, Babel,Treasure Island, Jewel of the Nile, Gladiator, Ben-Hur, The Passions of Christand even more.

You will visit the Kasbah Amridil, originally built in the 17th century, one of Morocco’s most iconic living museums. It has withstood the test of time, making it the ideal setting for an insight into the ancient traditions of Kasbah life. Here, you will be able to take a look at some tools that were used in the area generations ago, and some that are still used today in southern Morocco. After you’ve taken in the traditional ways of the Kasbah, make your way up the stairs to the top of the fortification to get a stunning view of the surrounding Skoura palm groves.

Kelaat M’Gouna: At the southernmost gorges is the AsifM’Goun River, which runs alongside of a small town referred to as Valley of the Roses. The Valley of the Roses is known for the extensive harvest of roses, used in the production of perfume, rose water, oil, and cosmetic products. Among the foliage you will also find groves of palm and almond trees.

Boumalne Dades: The traditional adobe houses of southeast Morocco in general and theVillage of Boumalne Dades in particular are just amazing. They become warm in the summer and cold in the winter, which contributes to the good health of the people. This type of building solidifies Boumalne Dades as being distinct from the rest of the country. All the materials used to build a Kasbah or a castle is taken from local sources such as water, rocks, soil, wood, reed, and so on. However, for the last two decades, the state started encouraging people to build with cement, which had a negative impact on the traditional way of building. Those people who have cement houses are considered rich and superior among the other villagers.

Day 3: Dades Gorges –Dades Valley –Todgha Gorges – Tinejdad – Jorf – Erfoud – Merzouga

After an early breakfast, you will leave to travel towards the Sahara Desert, Merzouga. Along this drive you will see many Berber villages scattered along the way.

Dadès Gorges: The Dadès Gorges is a scenically beautiful section of the Dades River Valley in between the Atlas Mountains and the Anti Atlas. The Gorge is best known for mesmerizing scenery and the Kasbahs set precariously along the roadside, overlooking the river below.

TinghirOne of the most spectacular Gorges in the world, Todgha Gorges is a series of limestone river canyons in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco, near Tinghir. Both the Todgha and Dades Rivers are responsible for cutting out these deep cliff-sided canyons. The heights of the canyon walls vary, but in some places can be up to 400m (1,312 ft.) high.

Tinejdad: Stop to visit a Berber village famous for its’ palms.

JorfHere you will stop to visit the old Canal of Irrigation. This area dates back to the 14th century and has provided water for towns and villages for several centuries.

ErfoudErfoud is a town in southern Morocco, in the Tafilalet-region. Erfoud has been given the name of “The Gate of Sahara Desert” as it is near the Erg Chebbi Dunes since you can actually take direct off-road route to the dunes.

MerzougaWhen you arrive to Merzouga you will be checked into your raid/hotel for your accommodations and dinner.

Day 4: Merzouga – Khamlia –Rissani – Camp in Erg Chebbi

After your breakfast you will tour the area of Erg Chebbi.

KhamliaYou will visit a Berber residence and listen to the indigenousGnawa music, originated in West Africa.  After, you will visit some deserted mines and the Oasis of the Palm Trees.

RissaniRissani is best known as a producer of high quality of leather. You will visit the visit the famous Market of Rissani where you can find jewelry, souvenirs, gifts, spices, art and crafts. While in Rissani your lunch will be a traditional Moroccan pizza called “Medfouna”.  After you will comeback to your hotel in Merzouga and prepare for your journey to Erg Chebbi to take a camel ride into the desert where you will enjoy a night under the stars.

Erg ChebbiFrom Erg Chebbi you will embark upon a camel and journey into the Sarah Desert.  The camels will be packed with food and blankets, as well as the other necessities needed for this one night stay in the desert.  We will trek our way through the sand to a small Oasis in the middle of the dunes. Here is where you will be spending your evening, where the sky is clear and stars sparkle and shine with intensity. Your accommodations this evening will be camping in a Nomad Berber Tent.

Once settled in at camp, a campfire will be lit and our staff will play music with drums in order to share our culture with you.  Afterwards you will be severed your dinner under the Saharan skies ‘blanket of stars’ at the campfire or in the restaurant tent at the camp.

Day 5: Merzouga-Erfoud

In the morning, after having a sunrise breakfast, we will break camp and ride our camels out of the desert and back to our original point of departure.  You will then travel back to the hotel so that you can shower, have breakfast and collect your luggage.  We will start our journey to visit one of the biggest sites of fossils in world, Boutchrefine.Here you can find the Flower of the Sea fossil, the Crinoid fossil,the Ammonite fossil as well as Fossilized Marble … after we continue to Erfoud to see the famous Market of dates then the workers of fossils. then we will make a visit to our association AGIAL  (volunteer work  of helping children s and women), lunch will be with a family. After we will visit the museum of fossils . If you want spend night in Merzouga is same for us .

Day 6: Erfoud – Ziz valley – Zaida – Midelt

After you have completed your breakfast, we leave Erfoud to travel towardsMidelt.   In route we will stop at Ziz Valley to view the biggest grove of dates, which give you the opportunity to take amazing pictures.  After we will continue on to Errachidia but not before stopping in Er-Rich at a small Berber village.

Zaida: The town of Zaida, a small Berber town in the Midelt region, has an incredible street lined with restaurants.  You will see many displays of fresh meat hanging in front of the shops as well as traditional wood burners cooking an assortment of tagines.  Here is a great place where we will stop to have lunch before we continue on through the Atlas Mountains towards the Merzouga.

Midelt: On your travels you will pass through the town of Midelt, with a population of 55,304 recorded in 2014, it is located in central Morocco, in the high plains between the Middle Atlas and High Atlas Mountains ranges.  The cities elevation is 1508 m (4948 ft.), making it one of the highest large towns in Morocco. Midelt is one of Morocco’s principle cities for the mining of several minerals as well as a market for agriculture for an area extending across the region.  This region is best known for apples, walnuts, apricots, plums, pomegranates, wheat, corn and a wide variety of garden vegetables.

Note: Due to the weather conditions in Ahouli at the time of your travel it may not be possible to visit the Ahouli Mine because of the freezing temperatures along with the snowfall which makes the roads difficult to travel and at most times impassable.

Day 7: Midelt – Cedre Forest – Meknes

After breakfast in your hotel, we will depart Midelt to travel towards Meknes. Once we arrive to Meknes you will be checked into your riad/hotel and you will have this day to explore the city on your own.

Azrou: Cèdre Gouraud, is a forest, in the woodland area, in the Middle Atlas Mountain Range in Morocco. The forest is truly remarkable and a complete contrast from the Sahara Desert. This beautified cedar forest is home to the endangered Barbary Apes, which are actually monkeys. Once you arrive you won’t have to look far to see the Barbary Apes, as they are not shy to come out of the forest to greet you. This will be good opportunity to take photos of the timberland in Morocco.

Day 8: Meknes – Moulay Idriss – Meknes

After breakfast in your riad/hotel, we will start our travels.

Meknes: Meknes, one of the four Imperial cities, is where you will visit the famous El Hedim Square, the Mausoleum of Sultan Moulay Ismail and the Old Medina.  You will also view the Bab Mansour, an iconic gateway known for its geometric ornamentation, devotional inscriptions and marble columns.

Moulay Idriss: While in Meknes you will visit Moulay Idriss or Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, considered the holiest city of Morocco. Just off the main square is the Mausoleum of Idriss I, a sacred destination that is open only to Muslims.  While in Meknes, we will stop for lunch before leaving to travel to Volubilis.

Volubilis: In our route we will stop to visit of the Roman Ruins of Volubilis. The ruins remained substantially intact until an earthquake devastated them in the mid-18th century.  The Arch of Caracalla is one of Volubilis’ most distinctive sights, situated at the end of the city’s main street, the Decumanus Maximus.

Day 9: Meknes-Larache-Asilah

After breakfast, we will depart from Meknes to travel toward Asilah.

LaracheWe will stop for a visit in Larache, a relaxed and easy-going town. Here the summertime visitors are primary Moroccan tourist who comes to enjoy the beaches on the banks of the Loukkos River.  It offers many famous areas to visit like the Lixus (Roman Ruins), Port Lixus, Plaza de Espana, Torres Park and so on.

AsilahAsilah is a town on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, south of Tangier. Its old town, or medina, is enclosed by well-preserved 15th-century ramparts and gates, built by colonial Portuguese. The medina is an art hub, known for its murals and Moussem Culturel International d’Asilah, an annual festival. Venues include the exhibition space Centre de Hassan II Rencontres Internationales and early-20th-century Palais Raissouni.

Day 10: Asilah

After breakfast in your hotel, you will have this day to explore the city on your own. Your dinner will be in your riad/hotel on this evening

Day 11: Asilah-Tangier

After breakfast, we depart from Asilah to travel to Tangier before arriving to Tétouan.

Tangier: Tangier is a major city in northwestern Morocco.  It is located on the Maghreb coast at the western entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar, where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Spartel.  The city’s name is said to come from Tingis, the daughter of Atlas, the mythical supporter of the Heavens.  Here there are many notable landmarks which you can visit.

Day 12: Tétouan-Chefchaouen

Tétouan: Tétouan, the Berber name meaning “the eyes”. Tétouan is one of the two major ports of Morocco on the Mediterranean Sea.  Here you will visit the Medina (old town) where you will find people performing their craftsmanship, like weavers, jewelers and leather workers. You will see the Kasbah, The Royal Palace, Tétouan Church and Mosque.  The inner city is very characteristic and traditional.

Day 13: Chefchaouen

“Chefchaouen”, meaning, “watch the horns” or Chaouen, as its often called by Moroccans, is a popular tourist destination because of its proximity to Tangier and the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. The name refers to the shape of the mountaintops that look like the horns (chaoua) of a goat.

Chefchaouen’s blue walls are a popular subject of interest;its beauty along with the relaxed atmosphere of the town is what makes this town very appealing.There are several theories as to why the walls were painted blue. One popular theory is that the blue keeps mosquitos away; another is that Jews introduced the blue when they took refuge from Hitler in the 1930s. The blue is said to symbolize the sky and heaven, and serve as a reminder to lead a spiritual life.

In Chefchaouen you will visit of the village and its brightly painted medina and the Caves of Hercules.

Day 14: Chefchaouen

After breakfast in your hotel, you will have this day to explore the city on your own.

Day 15: Chefchaouen-Fez

After breakfast in your raid/hotel, we will transfer you to Fez.  Once you arrive to Fez, you will be dropped off at your hotel, and this will complete your  15 Days Tour from Marrakech to desert-Fez and end our services.
